Therapy policies

A creative, compassionate space to explore your story, express emotions, and move toward healing. We ground in relational and healing-centered approaches and blend traditional psychotherapy with expressive arts and embodied practices. This page is our practice policy—not a substitute for individual therapy information.

Appointments and cancellations

Cancellations and rescheduled sessions will be subject to a full charge if not received at least 24 hours in advance, excluding serious emergencies (for example medical, accident, death in the family, illness).

Typical sessions run between 50 and 60 minutes, and often occur weekly. For clients under the age of 15, parent support meetings are required to occur every 4–6 weeks, or as needed, in addition to weekly appointments. The frequency and length of sessions can be discussed with your therapist to reflect your individual situation and therapeutic needs.

If you are late for a session, you may lose some of that session time. A late fee may be applied if you arrive significantly late to a scheduled appointment.

If a client cancels scheduled sessions more than three times in three months, a conversation must be held to discuss continuity of care and the importance of attendance.

If a client misses their appointment and does not contact us, we will reach out to schedule another appointment. If we cannot establish contact and reschedule within one week of the missed appointment, we will no longer be able to reserve your appointment slot, and will provide referrals for alternative treatment options.

Should a client fail to schedule an appointment for three consecutive weeks, unless other arrangements have been made in advance, for legal and ethical reasons, we must consider the professional relationship discontinued.

Confidentiality

The session content and all relevant materials to the client’s treatment will be held confidential unless the client requests in writing to have all or portions of such content released to a specifically named person. Limitations of such client-held privilege of confidentiality exist and are itemized below:

Occasionally therapists may need to consult with other professionals in their areas of expertise in order to provide the best treatment for you. Information about you may be shared in this context without using your name.

If you see your therapist accidentally outside of the therapy office, they will not acknowledge you first. Your right to privacy and confidentiality is of the utmost importance, and we do not wish to jeopardize your privacy. However, if you acknowledge your therapist first, they will be more than happy to speak briefly with you, but feel it appropriate not to engage in any lengthy discussions in public or outside of the therapy office.
